Fix Your Own Xbox – Here’s How I Fixed Mine

As a lot others did I bought my Xbox 360 as it is able to give interesting games and it could be used with internet in addition to the Microsoft’s unique reputation on their quality software. I too fell into the group of people who had to deal wi

th the so called problem of Red Ring of Death and thought how to fix my own xbox. This problem which is not uncommon occurred when Microsoft manufactured their most advanced console because some of the parts get heated excessively. As Microsoft knows about it if your warranty is still valid they will look after your console. Otherwise you will be forced to fix your own xbox like I did.

Following the footsteps of many other people I also spent and got my Xbox 360 because of its ability to give good entertainment with high quality games and because I could use it on the internet. This is due to their new high end Xbox 360 having a few parts which are not functioning properly. When you are encountered with this problem if the warranty period is not over you will have nothing to worry about because the manufacturer will do the repairs for you for no fee but if the warranty period is over like my one, then you need to fix your own xbox.

Fix Your Own Xbox – you can do it

As your warranty is already gone there is no harm in opening the console and trying to fix your own xbox. Open it carefully and look for the main board. On its back side you will be able to find the heat conducting parts called heat sinks. Remove those and do the cleaning as dust or pieces of plastic will disturb the conduction of heat. Apply some heat conducting grease. You can easily find the graphic processing unit and the central processing unit also. Clean them too and fix your own xbox with new bolts as the old ones would not hold the parts tightly together.

Now the warranty period is gone, you can open the console to fix your own xbox.On the reverse of the circuit board you will find the heat conducting aluminum part called the heat sink. Remove this and wipe it of any soil. Also the two chips... wipe them also with a clean cloth. Then put some Heat conducting paste in the heat sink and reattach the components. Use a new screw for each place too as they rust due to heat.

Fix Your Own Xbox – no more a problem

This problem has more connection to the manufacturing company. Microsoft fitted these instruments with the Graphic Unit they made themselves and they stated breaking down. Now they are aware of it and replace the chip for those who have warranty. If your warranty is no more, you will be asked to pay for the repair work, except for the GPU. Wouldn’t you rather fix your own xbox?

Another component which will bring about the Ring of Death is the new Graphic Processing Unit Microsoft has made themselves. When this started giving trouble they replaced it in the production line and they respected the claims of those who had warranty but if your warranty is not valid you have to pay the charges for fixing, though they will supply the GPU. Fix your own xbox instead!
